Principal's Message

Welcome to our new and returning Seariders! We envision a 21st century community of learners empowered to succeed in a global society. Our commitment to achieve that goal involves building a collaborative learning environment and culture that emphasizes responsibility, innovation, complex thinking, effective communication and excellence.

High standards and expectations for each student in regard to academic performance, co-curricular participation, and responsible citizenship are the foundation of our school. Wai'anae is a special place-- I know this, I've lived my whole life here, in Makaha. I've seen many changes, but some things stay the same: Wai'anae pride is strong, no one can get us down, we care about family, and we take care of others.

We believe that effective teachers create opportunities for intellectual risk-taking, collaboration, problem-solving, and application of classroom learning to real life situations.
We believe that successful students employ critical and creative thinking skills to solve problems; pose questions, examine possibilities, and apply skills to find solutions to authentic issues; make positive choices related to physical and mental wellness; and, productively contribute to our community.

An `olelo no`eau gives us guidance: Ho'omau! It means to persevere: go over, under, around or through. Never give up! We are proud to be Seariders!
